"“I would love to believe that when I die I will live again, that some thinking, feeling, remembering part of me will continue. But as much as I want to believe that, and despite the ancient and worldwide cultural traditions that assert an afterlife, I know of nothing to suggest that it is more than wishful thinking.”

U.S. News - Fire captain demoted for Trayvon Martin Facebook post

. Grown ups acting like whiny little kids, I swear to God.

Ok, you speak out, with quite possibly the truth, and you are punished. This is America, aint it? Free speech sometimes includes thing you don't want to hear. And always, you are gonna say things I don't like.(I just ignore you) This 'PC' speak is ridiculous.  This old kids chant says it, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me"  Now that is American 'PC'.

U.S. News - Fire captain demoted for Trayvon Martin Facebook post: "Besides having disparaging words for the prosecutor, the post also said: "I and my coworkers could rewrite the book on whether our urban youths are victims of racist profiling or products of their failed, (expletive), ignorant, pathetic, welfare dependent excuses for parents, but like Mrs. Corey, we speak only the truth. They're just misunderstood little church going angels and the ghetto hoodie look doesn't have anything to do with why people wonder if they're about to get jacked by a thug,” he posted."

The Most Persuasive Case for Eliminating Black Studies? Just Read the Dissertations. - Brainstorm - The Chronicle of Higher Education

The Most Persuasive Case for Eliminating Black Studies? Just Read the Dissertations. - Brainstorm - The Chronicle of Higher Education: "Seriously, folks, there are legitimate debates about the problems that plague the black community from high incarceration rates to low graduation rates to high out-of-wedlock birth rates. But it’s clear that they’re not happening in black-studies departments. If these young scholars are the future of the discipline, I think they can just as well leave their calendars at 1963 and let some legitimate scholars find solutions to the problems of blacks in America. Solutions that don’t begin and end with blame the white man."

Naomi Riley caught my attention from the following link. Very good points made. I think I will keep reading her stuff.

This is her answer to the criticism of the above blog post.

Taking pics makes you a pervert.

Read the article. This lady took a picture out her car window. That is all. Nothing weird. What are we coming to when taking pictures gets the police involved? I once was taking pictures of my son at the park and someone came up and said I could not take pictures of the children. Like I was some kind of pervert. Now I know that we have to watch out for the kids but this is getting out of hand. Not every middle age white guy is a pedophile, (in this case, a woman) and I am getting tired of people acting that way. You should see the looks I get when I am out with my grandbaby. I know, I know, better safe than sorry. Well, let me hear you say that when it is you they are looking at.

College grads are more honest? Yea, right.

Residents get a chance to comment at Dixon council - WREX.com – Rockford’s News Leader: "One thing every speaker agreed on was that Rita Crundwell deserved severe punishment. Crundwell pled not guilty to charges of wire fraud for allegedly stealing 53 million dollars from Dixon over the course of 22 years.

"I do not understand why a non-college graduate was allowed to be the comptroller," said another woman."

"In every single group of human beings, you have a certain percentage of crazy shitheads. Find me an organization of a million charity workers who have devoted their lives to saving homeless golden retrievers, and I'll bet my life that within that group I can find a faction of crazy shitheads. Hell, I'll bet I can find at least one in any group of a dozen people. Liberals, conservatives, moderates, weed advocates, anti-drug advocates, cupcake bakers, window washers. They all -- all -- have their crazy shitheads that can be pointed out. I bet I can find at least one in your family.
Therefore, their existence proves nothing about the group as a whole. And, therefore, it is always wrong to dismiss a political movement by simply pointing at their craziest shitheads and saying, "See! That is what (insert group here) is REALLY thinking." It's a cheap shot, anybody can do it and it's an outright lie."

I could not say this any better. It is also true of religion. And race.

5 arrested for allegedly trying to blow up Ohio bridge | Fox News

5 arrested for allegedly trying to blow up Ohio bridge | Fox News: "It is unknown if the bridge incident was connected to Occupy Wall Street's plans for nationwide protests Tuesday."

Now why did FOX have to say that? It's also unknown if the bridge incident was connected to the Christians plans to hold services on Sunday either. How about the scouts? Seems these nuts seem to be just that. Nuts. Why would someone insinuate that a particular group might be connected? To make them look bad? It rained today, maybe it is connected to Occupy Wall Street. Car won't start, could be Occupy. Geez.
