Trayvon Martin

Does anybody else see the similarities between these protesters demanding an arrest and an old time lynch mob? One difference is that he won't be strung up in an old tree, will he? Mr Zimmerman may well be guilty, and to me it looks like he is, but WE DON'T KNOW! The 'mob' seems to be acting like a judge, jury, and executioner. It appears that Zimmerman assumed that someone was guilty and now the mob seems to be doing the same thing. We need to see the reports and know all the facts before making judgments. These two men, before that fateful day, were both law abiding citizens legally and morally going about their business. Then something went horribly wrong. We don't know what happened.  We were not there. And until we get those answers, I don't think a lynching is in order. RIP Trayvon.

  1. Some of the people that posted about Zimmerman were downright prejudice toward anyone that is not black. On FB, some responded with, "Kill that MO FO!" And "Whitie must DIE now! I'll blast him if I ever see his arse". (This was before most people in the general public found out that Zimmerman was half Hispanic) They were really scary responses from some people. And someone had an interesting comment, he/she said, "if it were turned around and the kid had a gun, and shot Zimmerman, the same people who want to kill him now would be saying, the kid was just needing to defend himself." I thought it was an excellent point. Sadly, I think Zimmerman is a dead man no matter what. His best chance for survival now, is to be found guilty, be put on death row, and put into solitary confinement to keep him from being murdered in prison. Two families lost their sons that day.

  2. I'm so sick of racism being only whites against blacks. Get over yourselves, get a job, clean up your neighborhoods, father your children and stop having 4, 5, 6 babies with 4, 5 and 6 different men! Enough said.

  3. Just saw this recently too, from the Black Panthers in Tampa, Florida:

I think white racism is exposed continually, and it should be. Whereas, "other" racism is rarely pointed out...Ironically, most likely due to fear of being called a racist. And I think that's what's happening with the Zimmerman case. Many people are afraid to speak out against people that are being blatant racists, using Zimmerman as an excuse to push their hatred.
But why aren't the Black Panthers exposed nationally for what they really are, just like the KKK are?? This audio scares me! And although it's pretty radical, I know there are many Blacks that feel this way, perhaps to a lesser degree, but it's out there, alive and well.

  4. Your comment made me think of a time I was working at the phone company in California, and a very elderly Black lady living in L.A. called about her bill. We got to talking and she said that when she leaves to go to the pharmacy, her neighbor (a young man) would call to find out if she was home, jump the fence and break in to her house. I actually asked her about getting caller ID so she could prove he was calling her before breaking in, and she said he would most likely steal it. At that time, all I could think of was...damn...this old lady needs someone to take care of her, and this punk kid needs a parental figure to call him out. They NEEDED each other. She was from a completely different generation, very appreciative..It was so sad to know how much each could benefit from each other, yet it would never ever happen. If you ever get a chance, you should rent "The Corner" You'd probably like it.
